Volunteers Still Needed for the 2010 Chicago Cup!
Volunteers are needed
to help with set-up on Tuesday, June 22 at the Broadway Armory
from noon-4pm. Pizza will be provided and parking will be
available in the lot connected to the Armory. For those flying
home on Monday, please consider helping with tear-down on Sunday
evening, June 27th, after the final competition. If you cannot
help with set-up or tear-down there are still open shiifts available
for both adults and youths (runners) during the week. View all

FUTURE STARS TESTING
The deadline to
register for the June 27, 2010 Future Stars testing in Chicago, is June
13. Parents of interested gymnasts should contact their club's
head coach for registration information.
USAG COACHING WORKSHOPS
Olympic Training Center
Lake Placid, NY
The Rhythmic Program
at USA Gymnastics invites interested coaches to attend the Pre-Youth
Elite Squad and Youth Elite Squad camps this year to observe, listen
and learn from international guest instructors and veteran USA
staff. Coaches interested in attending should expect to observe
(video, note-take) during the trainings and attend any meetings given
by instructors. Training time will be respected by observers so
as not to disrupt the work of the staff.
2010 Camp Dates in Lake Placid (including arrival and departure):
Youth Elite Squad: July 5-11, 2010 (Invitations for invited YES gymnasts have been sent)
- Target: Competition readiness (for some), ballet, body/apparatus technique, conditioning
Pre-Squad: September 1-6, 2010 (Invitations for invited Pre-Squad gymnasts will be sent early July)
- ballet, body/apparatus technique, conditioning
Youth Elite Squad/Pan Am: October 25-30 (Invitations for invited YES gymnasts will be sent mid-September)
- ballet, body/apparatus technique, conditioning
Entry Fee Per Camp: $75 payable to USAG
Flights: Please arrive either to Plattsburg, NY or Albany, NY airports in the afternoon on arrival days and after 12 noon
on departure days if you would like transportation provided by the
OTC. Coaches arriving at other times are responsible for their
own transportation.
Hotel: Courtyard Lake Placid: 2 blocks from OTC (walking distance) www.courtyardlakeplacid.com
Meals: You may receive a meal credential for the OTC to cover meals. Cost: $25/day payable to USAG
Deadline: All travel and payment must be to USAG 2 weeks prior to the camp.

A message from Caroline Hunt, USA Gymnastics
Congratulations Team USA who delivered a Golden Sweep in all Individual events at the Junior Pan American Championships in Cuba last week as well as 2 Junior Group medals!
USA won team gold, Individual gold and silver (Rebecca Sereda and Polina Kozitskiy respectively) with Alexis Page in a close 4th. Rebecca took the gold in rope, hoop and ball and Polina in clubs. Polina also earned the silver in rope and hoop. Alexis competed in both ball and clubs finals.
The Group from World Rhythmics earned a silver and bronze in finals—bringing the medal count to 11 total.
Congratulations on wrapping up the international season with a bang!
The United States has earned a spot at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore based on the finish of Polina Kozitskiy in Cuba. Alexis also positioned the USA for a spot as well.
As the holidays approach, let us be thankful for the heath, love and support of all the gymnasts, coaches and judges dedicated to rhythmic gymnastics in America—

A letter from Caroline Hunt about the Chicago Cup/JO Optional

Dear All,
Please accept our sincere gratitude to all the gymnasts, coaches, parents and clubs who helped make the Chicago Cup/JO Optional event such a great experience.
One note: the scoring program for the Levels 7 and 8 ended up averaging D1/D2 instead of adding them based on the change to the rule. The program was re-written following this change, but on the first day of Level 7 it was only producing the former formula, despite the on-site attempts of our scoring manager (who wrote the program). All scores were calculated the same way and this has no effect on the rank—it just meant all the scores were lower.
There were so many different scoring programs running over the 6-day event—We apologize for the inconvenience.
The rhythmic program continues to try to give more opportunities for US gymnasts to compete and bring as many members of the community together as possible for significant events.

In Memoriam
Jody Hurlburt
It is an overwhelming loss of such an incredible woman. In such a hard month as this, losing two incredible members of the rhythmic community, please remember to celebrate the health and happiness of family and friends and to cherish the role of sport in enhancing our lives while giving our energy to support one another and create positive experiences.
God bless Jody's family and all of us grieving. Her life will be celebrated on May 23th at 4:00 pm at the Arcata Community center in Arcata, California.
